For sale and pick up in Evanston, IL (first suburb north of Chicago, about 5 minutes north of the Chicago border). You are welcome to come see & try it in person. No stairs involved with moving. You can pull your vehicle right up next to it. I can help you load. Willing to ship if I don't need to pallet.

I have tried to be as honest as I can with the descriptions and any flaws noted. If in doubt, ask! If you would like any other pictures, let me know. I'll do my best to answer any question and/or get you any other pictures. If you have a different opinion, or note flaws that I didn't mention, let me know and I'll update the web page as appropriate.

The good...

100% fully working. Completed a four hour continuous-on burn-in test with games played at least every hour, all controls, sounds and game working fine, dip switches all work, volume pot works. Self-test performed at start and end with no issues reported. Completed a four hour cycle test, turning the game off & on at least every hour, full self-test and playing a test game or two each time, all controls, sounds, dip switches, volume pot, and game working fine. Self-test reports no issues, all sounds present.

All 4 marquee lights and both coin door lights replaced with brand new lights. All lights are the exact type as listed in the manual specifications.

The main 3 board PCB stack, the power supply and the Dual Amp Power Supply have all be been recapped with fresh, new, name brand caps, August 2023. All boards have had a Simple Green bath and are sparking clean.

The monitor is a Wells Garner 19K4906. It has been recapped with fresh, new, name brand caps, September 2023.

All locks and keys are present. Coin door and top back door have two keys. Bottom back door has one key.

High scores and operator settings are saved properly. Power board has been modified with an off-board battery for easy front coin door access to replace when needed.

All of the aggravating security torx bolts have been replaced with simple Phillips head screws (your welcome).

Coin bucket & lid present.

Brand new leg levelers are included.

Tron does not come stock with a free play setting. An awesome hobbyist modified the ROMs to allow for free play (while still playing the entire attract screens). The free play modification has been installed on this game. See picture below for further details.

Both quarter (not token) coin mechs work as they should. They pass through a quarter and trip the credit wire properly to add a credit and then drop into the coin bucket.

I have worked to "bullet proof" the game mechanically as best I could. You should not have any mechanical issues for a long while (though no guarantees, anything can happen).

Game has been Simple Green cleaned as best as I could. The whole monitor viewing area was taken apart and cleaned.

The informational...

Manual is included, but schematics pages 9-1 through 9-6 are missing. I have printed the missing pages and included them. (Obviously they are not on the same stock paper as the original manual.

The bad...

There is noticeable wear along the side art near the front of the cabinet on both side of the cabinet. Replacement reproduction side art is available. If the game would be standing along side other games, the side art wear won't even be noticeable, and I don't think it would be worth the hassle and expense to install repro side art (just my opinion).

<---Left three quarters. T-molding is cracked in a couple places. Close-up pics of the T-molding cracks in pictures below. No signs of any water damage anywhere on the cabinet. As you can see, there is typical hand wear along the side art sides towards the front of the cabinet. Replacement reproduction side art is available. If the game would be standing alongside other games, the side art wear won't even be noticeable and I don't think it would be worth the hassle and expense to install repro side art (just my opinion).

<---Marquee. Pretty close to perfect, couple of minor flakes (smaller than a pencil eraser size) in the paint on the "N" in Tron.

<---Front enclosure.

<---Control Panel.

<---Notice anything out of the ordinary? Tron does not come stock with a free play setting. Look at the lower left in the picture. FREE PLAY! An awesome hobbyist (Tim at arcadecollecting.com) modified the ROMs to allow for free play. No quarters or opening coin door and tripping the credit switch ever again! The modification still plays the entire attract mode screens and if desired, you can flip a dip switch and it will go back to regular "insert coin" operation. Details of the modification can be found here: http://www.arcadecollecting.com/hacks/tron/ FYI, I have printed the pages from the web site and include them with the manual.

<---Back with both back doors in place. Top lock has two keys, bottom lock has one key. Note, coin door has two keys.

<---Back with both back doors off.

<---Backdrop art.

<---Top slam switch missing, wires are wire-nut'ed together. Bottom slam switch is present.

<---Top.

<---Bottom. No leg levelers installed, but are NOS present in coin bucket.

<---New, sealed bag leg levers.

<---Top left side T-molding crack.

<---Left side middle T-molding crack.

<---All 4 marquee lights and both coin door lights replaced with brand new lights. All lights are the exact type as listed in the manual specifications.

<---Modification of power supply board to remove the original Ni-Cad battery that was highly prone to acid leaking and damaging the board, often to the extent of creating a board not worth fixing. The original battery set up has been modified with an off-board battery pack mounted just inside coin door for easy access with three AA size batteries. Quick connects are used so that if necessary, either the power board or the off-board battery pack (or both) can be easily removed. The original batteries were rechargeable and the power supply board had a circuit to recharge them. In this modified scenario, the recharging circuit has been bypassed, so non-rechargeable AA Alkaline or Lithium Ion batteries can be used. Do NOT use rechargeable batteries. They will not be recharged and they will leak. Note: Batteries are NOT included. They are shown in the picture, but I think it is best that you install your own batteries so you are aware of how fresh they are. I recommend 3 x AA Lithium Ion batteries, but regular Alkaline batteries will work just fine too. If you need to change the batteries, do it with the game on so you won't lose your high scores or operator settings. The off-board battery pack is attached via a Velcro strap with enough wire that you can pull the battery pack off the Velcro mount and out the coin door a few inches to easily change the batteries.
